How To Stick To Your Diet During The Holidays

Do you find it difficult to stick to a diet plan during the holidays? You can still have a wonderful time and stay healthy.

Here are 3 simple tricks to help you celebrate the good things life has to offer and still feel good in the morning!

#1. Eat a full meal before you leave the house.

If you don’t go to a party on an empty stomach, you’re less likely to make unhealthy food choices there. And if you’re not hungry, you’re less likely to overindulge. So make sure you chow down on something filling and healthy before you go.

#2. Choose wisely.

Every healthy diet should include a little wiggle room. So save your splurging (within reason) for the party. Head to the fresh veggie platter instead of the chips and dip. Then make sure you stick to your eating goals the rest of the week. Also, decline graciously if asked to take leftovers home. Or accept them and give them to someone who needs them.

#3. Drink more water.

Keep in mind that alcohol has calories. Lots of them! So for every ounce of alcohol that you drink, take in an equal amount of water. This will not only cut down on calories but is a healthier, safer choice. If you prefer to forgo alcohol altogether remember that a glass of club soda with a twist of lime has virtually no calories!

Honoring holiday traditions with those we care about is important to our social health and well being. Remembering these three little tricks can help you to take care of your physical well being too.
